10-year Treasury yield hits 5% for first time since 2023

The 10-year U.S. Treasury note yield rose to a multi-year high on Monday ahead of this week’s Federal Reserve interest rate decision.
The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury — which influences mortgages, auto loans and credit card debt — was up more than 2 basis points at 5.00%. It hit the highest level since October 2023. |

tlt is getting wrecked today and is at an all time low. the yen move failed, the treasury buy back failed, and the rate increase failed. it looks like a straight line to 6+ now unless the fed starts up QE.
i'm staying in sgov until something totally breaks and/or QE starts. |

tlt is a tough call. at some point it will be a great buy. like buying long bonds in the 80s when they were at 15% was an all-time investment. but if you buy it now and rates go to 15%, the share price is totally fucked. you'll keep getting paid and the rate will increase as the fund buys new bonds, but you'll be stuck. |

at beast, they do QE to keep short term rates low but take higher rates on the long end |
