I don't try to do 1RM just occasionally hit the weights, 3 sets of whatever, after which I can barely do another rep.
I can lift somewhat more than I'm doing for the most part but idk seems like lifting to "failure" or close to it should be enough plus I don't want to get "injured."
When I was like 16 doing this shit, after a hard workout I'd be sore for days and days when pushing hard or when doing it after a long break.
Maybe I juse used to Try Harder and nowadays I dgaf but it's probably something to do with being Old. Or with being tall (6'4).

I'm massively sore after my lift session yesterday.
I did a couple of squatting exercises, leg extensions and bench press. I bench 225 all day.
After that I did cardio on the treadmill (rise set to as high as it would go; Teewinot training if you will).
This was followed by dry sauna, cold plunge, hot tub. I was at the gym for 6 hours.

muscles get used to it if you’re not switching things up. try doing something you haven’t before or in a while.
i don’t get very sore doing the same shit i do every week but i did weighted decline push ups for the first time in months the other day and got insane DOMS in my upper chest
