If you bought any electronics around that era you may have experienced early death from capacitors blowing out. You probably thought it was just bad luck or something to do with that particular model, but what if it was affecting all capacitors in every device made in every country on earth at the same time?

Capacitor plague is what got me into the electronics industry like I am now. In early 2011 I was active duty in the USAF working aircraft maintenance, and my then wife's early flat screen monitor went out. I took it apart and saw multiple caps leaking and one had blown/vented. I did a little research on capacitor values and their basics, ordered replacements, soldered them in with my old Radio Shack soldering iron and the monitor turned on like nothing had ever gone wrong. After that I got more and more of an interest, got my degree in electronics engineering, and am now watching this from my office at a local business where I test and troubleshoot radio based emergency communications systems.
