It’s insane how Costco’s just encourages you to consume more and more

That’s probably the worst part about it. You don’t need any of that crap in the first place. So why are you there buying shit up?
Also, how many of you have bought something at Costco’s and then there was too much of it so you had to eat more than you wanted or make more than you wanted to and it was all a waste?

the trick to staying thin is to keep next to zero food in the house, let alone massive Costco quadruple-size bags of potato chips, etc.
when you get hungry enough, just go to a restaurant.

I agree with your sentiment.
You have to be EXTREMELY careful at Costco's. You have to price check EVERYTHING. The store is full of landmines. Tons of stuff that seems like a good deal, but isn't. Tons of crap that nobody should ever want or use.
You have to be an expert user of Costco's and know what's up with your local grocer too. We don't really use Costco's for any kind of produce or dairy products. Generally I won't get meat there, but sometimes they have cuts that aren't readily available at the grocer--like cuts of lamb. Grocer always beats Costco's on price on meats like steak and quality is so much better. Costco's trimming just flat sucks and they are ripping you off on the weight. They are also ripping you off on the quality of the cuts and the price. Grocer has better quality, better prices, and better trimmed products that aren't going to price gouge you because you take it home and have to cut off another 10% before you can cook it.
Costco's is great for things like casual clothes, paper products, some one off pantry items, obviously the whole pharmaceutical aisles are just a big huge waste of space, etc. It's insane. Costco's does have some savings, but it's a buck here and a buck there, and maybe you save $20/trip, but its a hassle to go and you have to pick through the crowd and all the items on offer and it's all about the hunt.
IF YOU GO IN WITH THE GOY MINDSET OF "IT'S COSTCO'S SO EVERYTHING IS A GOOD DEAL" YOU WILL GET SKINNED ALIVE

Costco is 180 for your food budget if you do it right. Big staples -- quality meat, frozen and fresh wild seafood, cheese, organic fresh and frozen produce, even stuff like avocado oil-based condiments, canned stuff, and organic dried fruit -- are usually high quality and a fraction of the price per unit compared to other places.
The only impulse purchases I've made at Costco are random clothes (picked up a 180 windbreaker for like $17) and random exotic fruits when they have them.
Also great for alcohol if you regularly consume that toxin.
