My estimate is 20-30 hours, but it's been many years since I've played.

If you like action RPGs at all, you will love it. If not then don't bother.

it's a cool game but the action gameplay is very shallow/repetitive compared to lttp.

Not really. Lttp had more items that could be used in combat. Granted, they do keep things somewhat more fresh, but that's only one mechanic. Also, most of your combat in lttp revolves around using your sword anyway. I've extensively played both games and I didn't think one game had far superior gameplay to the other.

And Terranigma blows lttp out of the water in other areas, including story (lttp's was as generic and crappy as you can get), concept, and actual game (time it takes to beat). It's been a while, but I recall Terranigma took me much longer to get through than lttp.

I wouldn't go so far as the OP did in saying the game makes lttp look like dogshit, but it's certainly THE most underrated game on the SNES.

fair but I would dispute that taking longer = better, especially in a genre that's as fundamentally repetitive as these games are.

I think Terranigma's story plays an integral role in why I consider longer = better in this context. It keeps things very interesting, certainly enough to offset the fundamentally repetitive nature of the gameplay IMO. Though I also love this style of gameplay too.

Also, if two games are otherwise equal, I say that longer = better because you are getting more enjoyment and more for your money from the game.

Plot twist is incredible but I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't played.

It's very easy to just download it for an emulator.

I don't think there is a reliable way of hiding spoilers on XO. The most you can do is type SPOILER ALERT and have a single blank line beneath it.

Plus, a large part of the fun is finding this stuff out when you play. You aren't too old to try.

Terranigma is good but the most underappreciated SNES game is easily Der Langrisser. It's almost never mentioned and it may be my favorite SNES game period. Great music, great strategic gameplay, a ton of paths, a great script (at least in the fan translation), and a nice look.
