i won't pile on your mistake, but you dont think its a great sentence?
its in character, ofc, and humbert is a flowery writer, but i think its amazing.
it comes towards the end. he meets with a priest (after losing lolita) to explore whether there's any possibility to redeem evil, redeem himself.
