Way more intellectual rigor among the top reformed theologians vs. the top Lutherans.

Calvin >> Luther

Bavinck >= Gerhard

Barth >>> Tillich

Edwards >>> Bonhoeffer

Rutherford and Warfield >>>> the dozens of retarded shitlib women trying to "reason" their way to Unitarianism by another name

Also consider that Lutheranism has at this point become a much more inclusive and less practiced or embodied religious approach, only loosely resembling Christianity in many of its forms.

Reformed theology, meanwhile, has the much more rigorous seminaries and retains one of the most intellectual constituencies amongst traditionalist Christians in the US. It's not at all uncommon for Reformed churches (such as OPC churches) to have several elders with postgraduate degrees in theology from reformed seminaries. It's not my experience that the same is true of Lutherans, or that Lutherans are capable of making direct scriptural arguments to support their positions. A conversation with five median members of each denomination would leave you with zero doubt here.

Good points. I think you are probably right on Barth and Edwards in terms of prestige

Cr, but tbh Calvin is easily the most preftigious on the list, and it's not particularly close. His Institutes Of The Christian Religion should be required reading for every Christian man with any interest in the Church, I would put him on par with Aquinas (and probably no one on par with the pair) in terms of intellectual and scriptural rigor.

i don’t think so tbh. unless we’re limiting “Lutheran” theology to so called Protestant scholasticism/orthodox Lutheranism and accompanying pietist movements, in which case, maybe yeah. but the Lutheran tradition more broadly is probably more “prestigious” strictly speaking
