I have several family members who seemingly encourage consumption among the young males in my family. My parents essentially did same for me snd i was a huge pothead for much of my youth. They all refer to it as 'self meficating'. Now, im the only person in my family not on massive amounts of rx ssris and other drugs. Im conscious that when i do partake i become so overwhelmingly paranoid and anxious that i can barely function. Wasnt like that when i was younger. However, what i think happened was it built up some crippling neural pathways totally incompatible with my current persona as a Senior Ethics Official and which are activated by imbibing. In short, seems really stupid now to me to medicate with this drug which is incompatible with functioning at a high level.
I get it gor artsy types i guess. |

E.g. with alcohol, a few beers is great. 15 is a problem for most people.
But people don't think alcohol is a spiritual therapeutic thing.
So high doses of weed, which make you paranoid, seems to suggest low doses induce a mild anxiety that is good for some certain applications, like art.
But it's not like it's some "more real" experience of reality. It's inducing a specific kind of altered state. Like alcohol or coffee. |

With that said I have noticed that today's weed is quite addictive and makes me lazier even when I'm not stoned.
I've started to cut back significantly on the weed and have noticed increased motivation but it did wonders for me in terms of getting off alcohol...
I used to just white knuckle it through 3 days of sobriety so I could drink 6-8 beers a night for the next 4 nights without my wife labeling me an alcoholic. Weed essentially removed those cravings completely and mellowed me out significantly. |
