It assumes almost as a given the thing that’s responsible for our biology and consciousness is the same thing that’s responsible for the universe, matter, energy, the laws of physics, etc. I just don’t see any evidence for that and from what I gather it’s based on nothing more than a feeling people have.

1. For a given human being, there exists an innate attention mechanism that leads them to seek out certain things over other things

2. This attention mechanism can be described by some algorithmic function.

3. The algorithmic function developed and was inherited over time through evolution by natural selection.

4. Therefore, there exists some mechanism by which attention can be modified over time.

5. Therefore, there must exist some substratum in which attention inheres and can be modified. Call this "consciousness."

6. All non-behavioral things obey the laws of nature in their persistence and interactions through time.

7. The set of laws of nature is the algorithm which defines the attention mechanism of a higher mind.
