because AMD decided you needed DDR5. Intel gave you the option of using DDR4 on LGA 1700, but AM5 has always REQUIRED DDR5. For NO REASON.
Now 90% of PC owners own AMD systems that REQUIRE DDR5, effectively making it the industry standard. Yes, new Intel chips require it too, but those chips came out several years after AMD made DDR5 mandatory. An Intel 14900k still runs like a raped ape on DDR4 in 2026, not flame. For that matter, a 12600k from 2021 running on DDR4 won't bottleneck a 5090.
