About half the Indonesian population was communist, so to actually kill all the communists you'd have to kill about 50 million people. As a consequence there are people all over Indonesia who are proud communists. It's a cool intellectual thing to do at top Indonesian universities. The campus bookstores have actual communist literature. Now they got a monument in Jakarta
