Not buying it. All four of my Offspring went to California run institutions. they lived at home and went in every day, and worked as they could. they have some debt, but not so much as to be overwhelming. Yeah, they couldn't afford to get involved with clubs, Greeks, etc. but they got a very good education, each of them. All happily employed because the selected practical majors that they can be proud of. They will "self-actualize" in their free time.
