even 1 month of SA salary would pay more than almost any other non-firm 2L summer gig. the question is whether 1) dewey will still have a summer program/exist in a month and a half, 2) nobody will hire you during 3L having the stain of a failed firm on your resume.

I assume that having "Dewey" on your resume at least shows you didn't strike out at OCI. Presumably those with V100 offers will do the best at 3L LOLCI, followed by Dewey summers, followed by those who struck out.

3LOLCI at least exists at CCN and there is a possibility to trade up to V10s if you had a biglaw SA offer. but i would bet dewey takes many summers from schools in the T25 where there are 0 firms coming to 3LOLCI. i just feel terrible since those kids won the lottery only to lose the ticket somewhere in the house.

The problem is if the partnership headcount or receivables triggers the default provisions on their outstanding loans or credit lines.
They need their credit lines renewed and if that does not happen, they will not survive another month. Exactly what happened to Heller.
Bonuses are due end of May. Curious to see if any are paid out.

They are in a particularly good situation to dissolve. High debt (query whether any partners personally guaranteed the credit line or the bonds) and diminishing prospects. Rainmakers, even with guarantees, are bailing which means they don't see themselves getting paid.
Big question is how long and whether there is something that survives. Dewey is a marketable name (unlike heller or thelen). I doubt it happens though.
