Hamilton seems to have the edge now, no?

we'll learn a lot in the next 5 weeks as 4 Grands Prix are scheduled to be run.

I wish Daniel Ricciardo had the car to really make a run at the WDC. I wonder if he moves in the off-season.

I don't know if he has an edge. It's been close so far, and yesterday was a little off because Hamilton escaped the lap 1 shenanigans.

I think Ricciardo wants to move on, but not sure where.

Ric is gonna move for sure. He wants a WC and he has the talent. Ferrari and Merc are the most likely.

Kimi is moving on from Ferrari for sure, but I don't think they're going to risk pissing off Vettel by signing Ric. I'm pretty sure Merc have basically said they're sticking with Bottas. They like him because he's pretty fast in his own right (and should have won at Baku this year) and fine playing second fiddle to Hamilton.

Red Bull basically already have the best chassis. They're just been hamstrung by their shitty Renault engine, but they're moving over to Honda next year. I honestly think Red Bull is his best option still.

Maybe, but I would put money on a move to Ferrari.

Neither Renault nor Honda have a great track record for engine success over the last couple of years.

How good of a driver was Rosberg?

Worthy WDC, or rode the coattails of Mercedes and had some breaks go his way?

When Rosberg won the WDC in 2016 the Mercs were so far ahead of everyone else. Mercedes only lost two races the entire year. Beating Hamilton is no small feat, but he's not in the pantheon of great drivers by any means.

Were it not for that retirement by Hamilton in Malaysia, he'd have won the championship.

The season is much better this year now that Mercedes isn't quite so far ahead

you could also say the same thing about the races Rosberg crashed out of too. There's always going to be some randomness in racing.

an engine issue for Hamilton in Malaysia, but I'm more just talking generally about how there is always going to be a certain luck factor in racing

I really like Ricciardo. I wish RBR would dump crashtappen -- he's probably the only driver i really dislike.

I also hate him and his DSLs.

I'm sure they're try to go all out, but they just don't have the engine. I think Mercedes is going to crush the rest of the season now that they've got their upgrade.
