It has the cynicism about the world and powers that be that Gen X grew up with, but it also has the artistic idealism of our generation. I'd say Petunia is the iconic symbol of Gen X, being forced to dance the dance of seduction by their boomer overlords, as represented by the Ginger Menace, but Artie serves as a Gen Y proxy, foolishly trying to accomplish lofty, world-altering goals like fixing the world economy, as symbolized by him trying (and failing) to shift the Nona Mecklenberg household an inch. Mr Tastee is OFS the Greatest Generation; Gen Y everywhere long for his return to ascendancy, but he is here and gone within a season, never to be seen again. |
