SF Bay Area.
Approved up to a 400,000 loan, FHA, so we'd only have to put down 3.5%.
When we tallied up ALL the monthly costs - mortgage, PMI, taxes, HOA (can't afford a single family at this price range), renting would still be vastly cheaper for similar places (even with tax benefits taken into account).
Good decision?

In most of the country, buying is a no-brainer. In SF, you probably made the right move

The Bay Area never had a "bottom" because it wasn't hit as hard by the Great Recession due to tech, and now it's getting crazy here. It's like 1999 models and bottles.
Maybe I'll wait for the next bust (which may never come though)
