I am filing my document for the NY bar. Most of my legal employers bothered to say a few kind words about me on the "any extra comment" page, including a judge who did not supervise me that often. But the professor whom I served as RA did not say anything at all.

Is this understood as a pure formality in which no words need to be spoken? The lack of comment by my former professor made me wonder whether I should even consider using him as a reference in the future.

if he can't be bothered to write a sentence on the form he probably won't give you anything more than form recs written by his secretary

I thought my judge was a little awkward but he wrote kind words that I do not deserve.

well there is another thing that troubles me too.

I made a polite request for an affidavit last week, right after the bar exam was out. He said he would send it by friday. Indeed he confirmed he had sent it out in a few days.

then, I waited anxiously every day. no mail. I thought the postal system was messed up somehow. He said this week that he would "resend" it - this time to my office address.

Yesterday I got what was supposed to be his first letter at my home address. The letter was sent out this past Wednesday, not last week. The affidavit was also notarized on Wednesday.

I know, what matters is I finally got the affidavit so that I can be admitted to the bar.

I just find people so untrustworthy.... so messed up. The moment I found that out, I decided never to put his name our my resume.

not a big deal. you can't possbly complain. it's only a form affidavit.
