Or if not, fuck it, try it out - I had an ex-gf contact me recently once she got out of a 5-year relationship with another dood. After a few years it's possible to try to reconnect, but you have to accept if she doesn't want to commit again and just move on.
EDIT: and by 'ex-gf' i mean some girl I dated for like 2-3 months before she started dating this other guy. To be consistent with what I was saying earlier about never really being in a relationship.
