most of the blacks are gs-5 through gs-11 support type roles; we do have some black attorneys though; maybe 15% of attorneys are black. I attribute the blacks' lower representation among attorney positions to the fact that there simply aren't as many qualified black attorney applicants. If there were, by god there'd be like 60% black attorneys then. |

Women still get a bigfed bump in most agencies for fuck's sake.
A lot of itmes they'll be in 70k no-work "supporting" roles so that the office hits some crazy quota. |

People at the top of the ladder have the luxury to not care about fairness.
But yeah, it's more a sign of internal anger about one's situation, and ultimately is counter-productive since it's just a waste of energy. |

People find it really irritating when politicians come up with simplistic policies that "sound nice" but actually result in endless waste, corruption, patronage etc.
Federal government affirmative action is not the ONLY such policy, but it is one where the stated justification is so thoroughly hypocritical and backward that it really gets on a lot of peoples' nerves.
Not that AA, as currently practised, is going to totally ruin the country or anything.
But a LOT of writers, commentators etc push stories about "diversity deficits" at certain institutions in government and business, which is essentially pushing for an expansion in AA that everyone knows our society can't afford. |
