I don't want to pay $2600 for a 500 square foot shithole just so I can be in ManFUCKINGhattan. What are the more affordable, non-ghetto neighborhoods worth living in in Brooklyn? I see some nice apartments in new buildings in Williamsburg for far less than they'd go in MFH. Living in a newer building would be awesome.

Well, then, fuck. Any other ideas? Want to commute to Manhattan but don't want to pay Manhattan prices to live in an old shoebox with roaches and a window AC unit. But if I lived in Bushwick I'd probably get stabbed once per week.

i think stuff further from the subways, and further out on the L (near grand st) definitely rent for far cheaper than MFH; lots of the housing stock is just sps.

anything and everything on the L is now overrated and overpriced. not worth it to live in Bushwick or East New York for those prices. might as well live in Jackson Hts, Sunset Park, or Woodside for less money and less crime.

i wasn't sure where the cutoff was. at grand st my bro was a short walk away from the hipster stuff near the closer subway stops and there were a bunch of warehouses/industrial spaces separating his place points deeper in bushwick, so it seemed like an apt description. there's a pretty huge difference between the grand st area and the subway stops deeper into bushwick, at any rate.

Yeah I'm looking at places now. I haven't physically looked so I'm guessing they are bigger than manhattan, but they're definitely more expensive than the UES.
