Basically biglaw making 160k vs. ibanker associate making 200k all-in.

Is there really a big difference in these salaries post-bonus? I feel that biglaw is too self hating and there's not that much of a difference.

Why are ibankers always thought of doing models and bottles and not biglaw associates? The extra hours worked and that extra cash doesn't seem to be big enough of a difference, especially if bankers are blowing it at clubs.

mainly the difference is probably the fact that ibankers have 0 loans and biglaw is swimming in debt but if u compare salary only the two professions seem very similar.

I-banker associate most likely has an MBA with debt = to law school and only 1 less year opportunity cost. However, I think he will make more than 200k all-in.

Uh, are you quite sure about this? First-year analyst at a BB makes about 130k all-in (70 base + 10 signing bonus + 40-60 bonus).

No way a first-year associate makes only 70k more.

the difference isn't in starting salaries, it's in the potential over the next 5 years.

ok but say there are two 25 year old guys starting off in their jobs together and they are roommates (one ibanker and 1 biglaw associate).

can they hang out together comfortably? or is it gonna be like some 40k dude hanging out with a 80k dude.

Breh, 65K a year banking analysts straight out of college can model and bottle together. BigLawyers can model and bottle all they want, the difference is that lawyers are beta aspies and bankers are alpha

the diff is that most ibankers actually need social skills.. they all hang and party with their ibanker friends, its part of the culture

in contract BIGLAW associates just fuking bill hours.. being social and partying is actually frowned upon.. its two totally different environments

assuming similar debt, just to make it remotely fair, that extra 40k makes it a lot more feasible to have a nice apt, that's about it
