i am about to go through OCI. have a good shot of coming away with something (good grades at t10). have no interest in shitigation. my goal is to be in biglaw for however long it takes before i can land some kind of attractive-ish in-house offer (4-5 years?).

what sort of corp. practice should i be looking into? tax? M&A? i really don't know what the differences are between corporate practice areas as far as the day-to-day responsibilities and ultimate exit opportunities, but assuming i want to optimize the latter, please advise.

M&A is credited but only if you're going to a top firm (read: V5)

What if you're not going to a top firm?

What if you're at a regional firm? Real estate, finance, tax, employment seem like better options?

What is the difference between V5 and V10? I only have a shot at DPW/Skadden in the V5, but is there any real difference between those 2 and say Simpson/Cleary?

Also, what's the best site to find out what a firm's true strengths are? Looking at Chambers it seems like every top firm is good at everything...

No difference, except that certain companies that only hire the best of the best in terms of credentials tend to focus on the top few firms.

labor and employment is an underrated practice for in-house, if you have a group.
