You basically want to have a 16 hour fasting period and a 8 hour feeding period. So, if you can't work out at lunch, and want to work out in the morning, then you basically have to skip dinner because your feeding period will follow your workout. In the alternative, you can just start your feeding period around lunchtime and have some BCAAs immediately after your workout and a couple of hours after your workout, which should be enough to prevent catabolism. That's not optimal though because really, supplementing with BCAAs isn't completely fasted per se.

If you want to work out in the evening, you can start your feeding period before the workout. In the alternative, you can simply just shorten your feeding period and stuff your face with 2500-3000 calories worth of food after a workout.

Eat your first meal at around 1-2pm. This meal should be about 25% of your total calories for the day. Eat again around 4-5pm, again getting around 25% of total calories. Sometimes I'll eat another meal around this time but usually I just have a protein bar and some snacks. Work out around 6-7pm. After you work out you can eat the remaining 50% of your calories over the last 3 or 4 hours of the day.

ESE is a little different because he recommends a fasting period of at least 24 hours and the fast should be a 1-2x/week thing. I'm not a huge fan of it but Brad Pilon is much less of a douchebag than Martin Berkhan so there's that.

A lot of Lyle McDonald's nutritional stuff is really good and worth reading. Specifically, a month of his Rapid Fat Loss program followed by a month of Ultimate Diet 2.0 is always good to get me from my 18% BF bulk mode to my 10% BF alpha mode. Gonna be hitting that up after the bar since I'm pushing 19% at this point after 4 months of bulking.

yup. its second nature now dont even think about it. breakfast always slowed me down and made me tired anyways so it wasnt much to give up. Plus, I can be less diligent on lifting since I maintain a low calorie count. Typically I'll stop eating at 8pm and start again at noon.

The biggest trick for gains though is to lift heavy as fuck. Martin's right on this. bench, deads, squats, press, chins, rinse repeat.

yup. Chicken is a staple in any fitness diet and it helps that its my favorite. I also dont deny myself anything. I dont gorge mind you, but I'll be damned if I'm not going to eat pizza when I want. I just try to have a couple days a week where I eat only chicken, almonds, pb sandwich, etc.. to balance the junk food out.

By doing this I've stayed in pretty solid shape despite law, wife, kids.

I did recently learn that about fats -- an intermittent fasting blog recommended consuming a very small all-fat "snack" to satiate and kickstart ketosis (e.g., one to two tablespoons of coconut oil or heavy cream in your coffee). I haven't felt hungry enough to try that as of yet. Very interesting.

I'd like to get to a point where I very rarely consume carbs but dem <><><>CARBCHAINS<><><> are strong.

i've done this for four years now. after a month or so it becomes second nature. Not eating helps focus and avoids the afternoon lul. Currently, I eat first meal at 3ish and stop around 10pm. I only workout 3 days a wk. I just lift heavy those days: bench, deads, pullups, press, squats. Its def 180 as I refuse to live life without pizza and beer.
