If the OP is banned (pemanently of temporarily) for egreigous rule violations, it has been commonplace to delete everything they post for a certain amount of time. Otherwise there is no deterrent and you really cant have people outing or posting spoilers which immediately ruins the board.

lets say peter north spamming the board with people's names and spoilers. Do you think mods should only delete the posts that contain people's names or just delete everything he is posting (to make him unable to feed his addicition and to cut it out).

You'll notice the spoilers have stopped. Just deleting outing posts and threads did nothing back when he was going insane. If you prevent him from posting entirely, he gets the hint (for a while).

2) personally I didn't see any movie spoilers. I agree that posting spoilers is bad but I don't see why the board should be punished by having objectively good threads deleted.

3) if someone is just going to delete your threads for no reason, seems like that would make a person psycho spam more.

I've never heard of this "if you posted someone's name or a movie spoiler every one of your posts gets deleted" thing. Has anyone who is not earl ever heard of this? Sounds made up.

Edit: to clarify, I'm not saying earl just made this up, I've just never heard of this as a policy. Movie spoilers are bad but I don't see why totally unrelated threads should be deleted, and box's pics shouldn't be deleted either
