So on one hand, he acknowledges (tacitly mind you) that a vicious civil war broke out in Iraq and it became what it is today because of the US invasion (which he shamelessly advocated at the time) but on the other hand he implies that the only easy way for Syria not to become Iraq is through the military intervention of an external power like the US...but this time he does not advocate it.
