About the same. The question is what kind of girls you're looking for.
E Village: hipsters/NYU students
Murray Hill: recent grads compensating for their fear of entering the real world by fratting as hard as they can.
Personally, I find Murray Hill insufferable.

I went to NYU and know everything about the village and MH.
East village is great until you get wayyy over past Ave C. Then you are a bit far from the train and there are some projects and a coal power plant over there.
Closer to 3rd Ave. is credited, even up to Ave C. You'll have Zum Schneider which is a credited German beer garden.
Things are cheaper in the EV. You can get a shoebox studio for as little as $1,500. But this will be a 200sq ft. SHOEBOX with one burner and a mini fridge as a kitchen and one small window facing a brick wall. You can get a credited one bedroom (nothing special, in a walkup) for $2,250 in the area. Lots of bars, younger crowd.

i lived in EV when i was biglaw. hipsters don't live there (they might hang out there sometimes when they feel like makin the trek from brooklyn). the commute in the mornings was always a bunch of suits so it's mostly yuppies who live there mixed with rich nyu students. it's older than MH, mostly late-20s/early 30s people.
MH is just for fresh out of college grads sharing converted 2BRs in entry-level jobs hanging out at joshua tree. that could be your thing if you're into that.
