China also doesn't have the resource and facilities like American schools to pool talent from. So their athletes are hand picked from an early age to train. If Chinese schools take sports as seriously as America, there would be many more dominant athletes. |

But FWIW, Japan and Korea have probably been prosperous a little longer and exposed to Europe more so they've been playing soccer a couple decades longer. |

In table tennis 2008, the US competitors were all born in China, and in 2012 it's three fucking 16 year old kids. Whereas in Europe and Asia, there are professional ping pong tours. I read somewhere that if you aren't playing in European youth leagues by the age of 16 or so, you will never be a world-class soccer player. |

China, who allegedly doesn't have the resources and facilities of the United States, has a massive system of cradle-to-grave, immersive athletic training for promising elite athletes, yet because its schools don't support recreational sports as much as America, China has less dominant athletes.
