Because I wasn't fast enough. Being fast is a matter of leg strength, ability to hold your form/position, being able to see the course and where you can get aggressive while still holding your line, and not giving a shit about your safety.

ouch, might be good to just lay off because if you're in a tough spot you might end up pole planting harder than you want because of adrenaline and injure yourself further.

Look into a shoulder brace/immobilizer. You mainly do not want to lift your arm laterally when you have a bad shoulder so you can get something that helps to keep it in place.

is there anything more frat than casually coasting down a blue in Aspen, clad in ray bans, no helmet, holding your blackberry to your ear while barking buy orders to your broker to amass a position just below filing thresholds?

I've skied throughout switzerland extensively but mostly in the german speaking parts and not in the Valais. I could tell you a lot about St Moritz, Davos, Arosa and places in Austria like St Anton

I have skied Davos and Grindelwald, overall I think Verbier is superior.

I've heard great things about it, just haven't made it out there yet. I will keep it on the list of places to go when the franc is less expensive.

yeah the CHF being what it is doesn't help, plus the influx of major Russian cash in Verbier over the last 5-6 years hasn't made the place any more affordable either.

I've only skied St. Anton and it was a tossup between that and Kitzbuhel. Did I make the right choice? Or, I guess the real question is, which has the best apres ski because they're both in the Alps and have to be great.

I don't have experience with Kitzbuhel but St Anton has great apres-ski as you've experienced, because it's such a large ski area with many different mountains nearby.

Best way to cop last year's gear? Site? For a guy who gets 10 days/year now at best, paying retail for this year's model is not a good move.

How can I go from an intermediate to an all mountain skier? My home resort is Snowbird. I can handle all blues and easy blacks. I am not comfortable on anything more than that.

You need powder skis if you really want to go off the trail. Normal skis are too skinny and you will sink into the soft stuff and it will not be fun.

If you want to improve your skiing, a lot of it has to do with building leg strength and learning to go from edge to edge using momentum and body weight. You want the edges to grip into the snow instead of sliding/skidding.
