Roommate had already left for some bullshit, so I just threw on some clothes, grabbed my Kindle, and walked a few blocks to the local IHOP. Hadn't been there before and just needed some pancakes. It was more crowded than I figured it would be--assumed that the snobs from where I live would be offended by the presence of such an establishment and its potential to drive out local joints. They apparently aren't.
I've found that the waitresses are more likely to be chatty with me when I'm solo at these types of joints. Not sure why. |

I think chicks in those places are a lot more chatty since their usual clientele-longhaul truckers, cops, people working the graveyard, usually want them to be personable and talkative. They sort of get used to doing it and can carry a conversation about nothing fairly well. |
