Did you have +'s and -'s?
Or just A, B, C, D, F? What was the scale?
I've also heard of schools where your class averages are all combined into one number.
When I was in HS, it was just A thru F, 90-100 on down. Semesters broken into two quarters. Each quarter weighted 40% and a final weighted 20%.

all ur subjects were combined into a single university addmission index score (also out of 100 but curved) which determined what university courses you could apply to

this is in australia
basically u get a single final mark and all university courses have cut-offs based on these marks
if you don't get 99 or better u can't get into law or medicine ug

B= 4
C=3
D = 2
F= 0
Add .5 for honors
Add 1 for AP
No +/- which made it super easy to coast. 89.5% was as good as 100%.
