If you prefer LA to San Fran, move to Dallas. Otherwise move to Houston.

Austin is San Diego lately.

TBF the people who occupy country clubs in houston are pretty fucking prole and have undeservedly snooty attitudes, bunch of nouveau riche idle bitches especially

I buy it. Not high enough barriers to entry. You can get in making 200k, but do you want to hang out with a bunch of losers stuck in dead-end 200k jobs?

I looked up some nice houses in good neighborhoods, seems like 200-300k will get me some pretty awesome digs, comparable to a 600-700k house inan upscale burb here. Property taxis 1/3 of places like Westchester, coupled with a lack of state income tax, my real income should go up by at least 25-30%. Are the hours in Houston biglaw as brutal as NYC though?

Hitting 2000 means you're in no danger of being fired.

22-2400 borderline partnership with lots of extras.

2400+ strong change of partnership, but that's all luck.

No one blinks at the guy who happily does 1950 of good work every year.

280k in Houston: Mansion next to George H.W. Bush

280k in MFH: Crushing poverty, qualify for food stamps
