I'm abt 20 lbs overweight and tend to drink abt 1 glass of water a day.

If I can increase to 1 gallon a day, will that help me lose weight?

i'm with you bro.

i had 3 cherry zeros today and one glass of water first thing this morning.

my doctor told me that diet soda is 99% water, and your body gets hydration just as well from that, no water required.

weight loss has nothing to do with hydration (dehydration causes temporary water-weight loss, but this is not what you want). it's all about calorie restriction.

ah, that's a good point. drinking can suppress appetite. but i don't think water in particular is a good appetite suppressant--coffee, tea or soda with caffeine is probably better.

That remaining 1% matters greatly. Drink 1% salt water and DESCRIBE your resulting hydration.

well, that's absurd--raw sewage, too, is 99% water. obviously all things that are 99% water are not created equal, and i wasn't saying that.

but diet soda is very low in sodium (unlike sea water), and is otherwise non-harmful. it hydrates your body as well as water.

and no, "aspartame" is not going to hurt you.

It's important to stay hydrated one way or another. Coke zeroes are fine for hydration but might mess with your body by making it think it's getting calories. It rots your teeth too, but that's another topic.

Yes. Cardio will burn fat and get you in better shape/look better. Cardio burns calories too so if you're having a hard time staying below <2000 calories/day when trying to lose weight, cardio will help you burn those extra calories off. I'd definitely recommend cardio if you're trying to lose weight, but it's not really necessary for losing weight since losing weight is about operating at a caloric deficit.
