6. Single-payer universal healthcare.
7. Restore hanging in all fifty states as the punishment for murder or treason. Require solitary confinement of all felons for the duration of their sentences (conversations with guards and visits from family allowed for exemplary behavior). Send drug addicts to a remote forced labor camp.
8. End all public assistance to out-of-wedlock mothers. Replace all student loans with a limited pool of merit-based scholarships.
9. Conscript all able-bodied young men for military service. Expel women and faggots from the armed forces.
10. Make the right to vote and jury service conditional on meeting property, educational, and military service requirements.
11. Restore all airport security measures to pre-9/11 conditions. End wholesale surveillance. Try terrorism suspects; hang those found guilty.

I don't think the mental illnesses associated with malingering convicts actually makes them violent. They just talk to walls and shit.
Prison is only awful for the innocent right now. It does little to punish the guilty; for hardened criminals, it's just a networking event. Solitary confinement would cut criminals down to size, remind them of how petty and insignificant they really are compared to the State. If that knowledge drives them mad, whatever. They're criminals.
Whipping, again, is only awful to those who haven't been brutalized. It's effective in schools for that reason. It's completely stupid to beat some gangbanger who gets off on macho displays. |

Extended solitary confinement leaves most people docile. Violence is rare and almost always self-directed. So there's one advantage right away.
I think it will have a deterrent effect when the previously violent armed robber is released from prison, talks to himself all the time, can barely get through sentences without breaking into tears, and finally kills himself one lonely night. I think it will strike the fear of God into potential criminals, to realize the State can wipe out your soul if it chooses. Prison is about fear, not repentance. Right now, we outsource that function to criminals. Unsurprisingly, people are only afraid of criminals. I think they should be more frightened of the State.
I personally enjoy the thought of wicked and lawless people being broken down completely. Why do we put people in prison? Because they're human garbage and nobody wants them. Criminals are selfish, they care only about themselves. Fine, they can live only with themselves. We're giving them absolutely what they want: a world in which there is no one else. If that drives them mad, good.
Good behavior can be rewarded with an occasional conversation with the guards. Stellar behavior might earn a visit from family. But the default punishment should be complete segregation from society.

You obviously know nothing about hardened criminals. He's not going to cry from a dozen lashes. Your system punishes the innocent worse than the guilty. |
