Last rep of 405 X 5.

Not sure what i did. probably did the last rep too fast maybe, not enough legs.

fucking pain hit right away. I had to ask two little asian dudes to help me unrack the weight.

if i am fucked up for 3 months I'm going to be pissed.

The answer is actually quite simple: don't lift so fucking heavy.

You can realize the benefits of squats and dead lifts without having to max out.

It's kind of hard to "not push it" with deadlifting. It's an exercise that inherently requires you to push it. I'm never messing with it again, but props to you if you never hurt your back deadlifting.

I mean to say "lots of reps" and or "maxing out" and I think this is quite avoidable.

I received coaching from a power lifting coach because I was scared as fuck to hurt my back, so I understand and respect this shit too.

I was well below both my max weight and my max reps for the weight I was pulling, which is why it came as such a surprise to me.

Take it from me on this: stop deadlifting now. You will thank me later.

Yes, and reinjured it a few times. It's not worth it. I've had to rework my workouts because of it.

i am 95% sure this is not a herniated disc, but is just a strained muscle like I've had a few times before.

the pain is localized on one side of my back, no shooting pains in my legs, no incontinence or anything. Just a sore back and having a hard time leaning forward or picking things up.

It's a herniated or bulging disc. I never had incontinence and didnt have pains in my leg until the last time, which was really bad.

doctor said it was a strained muscle last time. localized on the left back muscle near my ass. I hope its not herniated.

I will guarantee you at least have a bulging disc that's causing the muscle spasms.

why do you think its a bulge causing the muscle spasms and not a muscle strain?

Because i had the same thing, and at the time also convinced myself it was a strained muscle. It's not, particularly if this is the second time you've done it.

What's this diagnosis based on? He said the pain was localized to one SIDE of his back, with no pain shooting down his legs. At the least, if a disc was bulging, the pain would be localized directly on the sprine in the CENTER of the back.

No, the disc will bulge outward and will cause localized pain on one side of the back. Mine was on the right side of my lower back.

The spine doesn't hurt. The bulging disc pressing on nearby nerves will cause pain and muscle spasms in the area.

well the doctor i saw last time said it was most likely a strain after running a bunch of leg movement tests. That said I did not get an MRI, so I guess we dont know for sure.

Good luck at my insurance allowing that in Obama's america.

Agreed that you don't know for sure without an MRI, but I'm going on firsthand knowledge.

And, to be honest, with something like this I'd rather take it more seriously than less seriously.

I never had any leg pain until the last time i injured it. Believe me, you don't want to get there.

If I were you, I'd give up the deadlifts at this point.

I have a friend suffering from a herniated disc. Let me tell you, this boy is suffering horribly and complains of chronic pain in his leg all the time to the extent he's not even able to drive a car without pain killer pills.

The dude used to be really outgoing and nowadays he barely hangs out. Can a surgery fix this problem?

i have a buddy who has a slipped? disk. he'd been doing shoulder press and then all of a sudden had extreme pain in his arm. he couldn't even pick up a glass of water.

he had ABSOLUTELY no pain in his back.

the disk was hitting the area associated with his arm and hence the ultimate cause of his pain. doc said if he'd been in a car accident on the way to the office he could easily have been killed.
