How the hell did Chalky's daughter find her way over to the table in time to get shot? Some weird editing in that scene.

Harrow and darmady were the best characters, I still enjoy this show and this season was better simply for the lack of margeret.

The show need to kill off nucky as soon as possible. The show should also be at least 50 percent Chicago, van Alden and Capone are fucking awesome.

i could watch an entire show just about that aspie, self-flagellating, weirdo motherfucker van Alden. Capone is good in small doses but i'd get tired of his coke-fueled niggerishness pretty quickly.

james darmody was a shit character. i don't see what you liked about him. every time he started up about how the war "changed him," i had to roll my eyes. then he falls in love with a hooker and gets all choked up about her dying. lots of overwrought bullshit. the only good thing about him was that he moved the plot along with his erratic behavior. his mother was a far more interesting character.

I didnt like this episode. besides killing off the best character, i feel like there was shit resolution here.

Chalky and Narcisse? eh.

Tampa? Eh?

Gillian goes to jail, great.

Basically they are just waiting for Luciano to kill off the other Italian and for Rothstein to get got next season.

I disagree...

The Narcisse story had a mini resolution w/ enough left over to look forward to next season.

Tampa was always just an idea, an out for Nucky. But now Nucky has been dragged back in and that is foreclosed. How is that not resolved?

Gillian is resolved... she's going to jail... so now you don't want resolution?

Capone solidified power...

The only thing slightly annoying is you don't know to what extent everything was planned by Nucky. For example, did he get his brother a spot with Capone or did his brother just get it on his own? Also, what was the deal with Hoover wanting to pin the murder of the fed agent on a black bro instead of Nucky's brother?

The Narcisse stuff is not interesting enough to go for two seasons in my opinion. Who the fuck cares about Chalky's family or his side piece?

How is Nuchky dragged back in? I thought he wanted out of the tampa business because of the heroin? Who is he actually working with now? How did the meeting get cancelled? I assume Eli planned it and got in touch with all the other players.

Gillian is going to jail - but what was the point of her being in the season at all - is it really just a way to resolve the custody of Tommy?

Capone was fine and I think Van ALden is the second best character by far. Though I dont know about the inference that maybe Capone tried to hit Torrio and vice versa.

Hoover hates blacks and communists more than criminals - that's his schtick and that why he did not give a fuck about Jim's investigation. I have no problem with that resolution, but Narcisse should be dead anyway.

Why did Nucky try to have Narcisse killed? Did he want a war with Masseria and Petrochelli? I am sick of using obvious hamfisted plot devices like Harrow the sniper. Maybe I am just spoiled by breaking bad, but every twist in Boardwalk is obvious a mile away.

1. The Narcisse stuff is a way to further develop Hoover's character I think. That's where the show is going. Part of the show has always been about the FBI and they need to keep an interesting hook there. It obviously sets up a nice moral dilemma too because here Narcisee is a hater of America and will be ratting to America on his fellow bro. BE writers love that kind of shit.

2. He's getting pulled back in because he's got the FBI on his ass and a bunch of loose ends to tie up now, and now he feels responsible for Eli's family. Seems pretty obvious with the cut to Tampa and him not showing up that he's forgotten about that whole plan.

3. I'm not really sure where the Tommy shit is going. If he were a little older I would think they might want to use him in the show eventually but it doesn't seem like the show will be around for long enough to ever really bring him in. I think it's just a nice backdrop of the innocence vs. how shitty the world can be theme they have going on.

4. Yeah, I think Torrio was telling Capone at the end there that he was out so Capone wouldn't finish the job. Seems pretty obvious they were trying to put hits on each other.

5. Yeah, I guess you are right. It was just sort of weird and out of nowhere though. It's like you would have to know about Hoover to know this. Why not develop it on the show.

6. That's what I wish they did a better job showing. It seems like Nucky was just doing a favor for his friend Chalky because he had no plans to continue in the business. But at the last second he obviously gets pulled back in so now it's going to be interesting to see next season how those relationships go.

"5. Yeah, I guess you are right. It was just sort of weird and out of nowhere though. It's like you would have to know about Hoover to know this. Why not develop it on the show."

they did develop it, just subtly. his focus on 'subversive activities' and lack of interest in organized crime is obvious in pretty much every interaction he has with knox.

also, no offense man, but he is legendary for that shit. the writers are going to assume some knowledge from the viewers. not to the point of making the character and his motivations inscrutable, but they're not going to waste screen-time spelling this out for you.

-chalky storyline was a rushed mini-resolution. his whole arc was kind of goofy in the 2nd half of the season, but all the awesome scene with lou gossett jr. in the penultimate episode make up for it. recasting him as a hungry and scorned outsider starting from scratch was probably the best way to keep the character interesting. he's a wild card now.

-narcisse is a cool character and i'm glad they didn't just make him a season-only villain. his fold-in with hoover, harlem culture, and the racial politics of the era add quite a bit to the show. meanwhile it was smart to kill of knox and that whole secondary villain plotline. he served his purpose but ultimately wasn't that interesting once you understood what he was all about, so good riddance.

-it was time for the gillian character to go. having her heavily involved with another season would be unnatural and forced. prison was a nice compromise. characters on the show either have to die or go into some kind of exile, otherwise everyone complains that they just stopped appearing.

-eli and the chicago world intersecting makes sense. the chicago storylines are good enough to exist on their own and they already shoehorned fan favorite val alden into that world, but sending eli out feels more natural. the increased scope and narrative of the secondary chicago stuff adds a lot to the series and i'm glad the writers don't just pay it short shrift. it seemed to me like it was hinted that johnny torrio and capone put the failed hits on each other, but we'll probably find out more about that in season five.

-the eli/will plotline was ultimately good because it sets up will as kind of a jimmy 2.0, but the whole thing was fairly contrived and poorly developed.

-like everyone else i was pissed about richard harrow, but i read an interview with terence winter, and his explanation was that they felt like it was a natural time for the character to go, but having him simply escape and go live out his days as a happy family man in wisconsin was too neat and tidy. this was a compromise, because he had achieved his singluar dream of having a family, but he also winds up suffering for the fact that he's killed like 80 people. complex character gets complex ending, etc. whatever you think about it, it was one of the more poignant and well staged finales of a cable drama that i've seen recently.

not killing dr. narcisse = 120, they made the audience salivate for a brutal murder of this nig the moment he stepped on screen. WTF

wtf happened to chalky's army/empire? he just ran away and suddenly has nothing now? that made no sense at all. WTF

also was retarded how chalky gave up everything for a psychotic ho. WTF

HOW could they let harrow die in such bitchmade fashion? WHY did they make him suddenly spazz out at the climactic moment of the last 12 episodes. WTF!!!!!

harrow's death really strung, but then i realized that the writers must've done a good job to make it sting so much. it wouldn't have been appropriate for him to die by anyone's hand but his own. combat prowess and uncanny survival was his shtick. the guy sacrificed everything to save innocence like bane in dark knight rises. his body. his mind. he gave it all. there was nothing but a shell left, and he got a way better death than having catwoman bust in the room and shoot him with the batcycle. i can't be mad at that.
