the thinking is probably that this person has already demonstrated extreme excellence in and out of the classroom so why make them wait for what's inevitable. |

The best that our society can do with the two most academically accomplished undergraduates to come out of Harvard College in decades is to put them to work advising Wall Street on Mergers and Acquisitions? The fact that she followed such a cookie cutter path shows that she's risk averse, so entrepreneurship is out. The fact that she devoted so much time and energy to a purely self-serving goal--studying--shows that the would not be suited to running a nonprofit. There's a high chance she's an aspie so politics or any public facing government role is out, and if she were a politician it's doubtful she'd do any good for the world because of her relentless devotion to self-interest.
