I tend to agree with you pumo but I'm not really in patent lit anymore except for the margins. What signs are you seeing that make you think it's going away. I think even in the last few years firms knew it wasn't sustainable and weren't throwing resources at it

ip lit basically breaks down into competitor suits and troll suits. both are going away in the very near future.

as for troll suits, there's now been a big push on patent reform as the npe problem has recently been very publicized. anyways, this has been a long time coming and the nail in the coffin is probably, at most, 1-2 years away.

as for competitor suits, companies are realizing its just not worth it in the long run to spend millions suing rather than just some sort of global patent licensing agreement. apple v. samsung is likely the last large-scale competitor suit. no more Broadcom v. Qualcomm/Oracle v. Google etc. Anyways, those cases only involve the largest of firms.

hordes of EE/CS bros went to law schools 2006-now and there just won't be enough work to sustain them going forward next 5-10 yrs.

"as for competitor suits, companies are realizing its just not worth it in the long run to spend millions suing rather than just some sort of global patent licensing agreement. "

this was common sense 10 years ago, and is still common sense now. companies participate in inefficient litigation. nothing new.

Lol at Congress doing anything meaningful in this area in the next 2 years. Those bros can't even agree on how to tie their shoes, you think we're going to get some big bipartisan patent reform bill passed, signed, and implemented? The government is still writing regs implementing Dodd Frank.

Not government, market forces. You bros can't deny companies are realizing patent lit is stupid and judges are getting tired of the shittier npes and the lower v100 shitlawyers that suck their dicks

your argument is retarded to the extent you make it seem like companies are all the sudden realizing that patent lit is a stupid waste of money. it's always been that way, yet the get themselves involved in it.

and can a judge do if he's "tired" of a troll case? they're still going to survive MTDs and proceed into discovery.

No the legit companies are stopping that shit. The troll shitlaw npes may try to keep it up but something tells me they're going to start taking more and more losses. As for the lower v100 faggots? Exile on Main Street
