ACTUAL vitamix owner here.

they're simply the most powerful blenders on the market. there are literally things u cant do with cheaper blenders, like obliterate spinach.

also u can get any big city chick back 2 ur place if u tell her u have a vitamix, not flame.

best $400 i ever spent.

1lb mixed vegetables+2 pints of water-->blend 60 seconds-->chug

there's some other crazy shit i make for girls w/ like yogurt, papaya, spinach, lemons, avacado, etc. really u can do what u want.

for example, the main competitor to vitamix (blendtec) has been blending NON FOOD items. for example:

hockey pucks:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxa_64EOmFI

golf club:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_YaNteKmew

baseball:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFkYKKVuGbk

the vitamix can do all that and more.

$500 sounds high. i paid $350 for mine at costco. you can buy a refurb from vitamix for $300.

it makes easy work of eating a lot of veggies. also, instead of ice cream, i throw in a few strawberries to make a nice sorbet. from that alone, it'll pay for itself in a year or two.

also, and i have this on good evidence, women hop into your bedroom if you tell them that you have a vitamix.

yes, to both questions. it mainly comes down to the power and the blade is replaceable. i think blendtec and vitamix are basically the same, but that's one of the advantages of vitamix, as you can replace the blade separately. with blendtec, you have to purchase a new jar. answer me this: do you like america? do you like true detective? if you said yes to either question, you need to cop a vitamix.

if ur finances allow, buy 2 and give 1 to ur parents as a thank you gift for bringing you into this world.

vitamix is an american product from beginning to end. the money you use to buy a vitamix keeps americans employed.

with a vitamix you will eat healthier and feel less sluggish when watching true detective. which will allow you to think more clearly about the plot and character developments.

people used to call america the great melting pot. ten years from now they will say that america is the great vitamix.

They're worth it man. I really wish I had bought one last weekend.

I get this girl back to my apartment, things are going well, she's pretty cool. We go into the kitchen to get a drink and she sees my refurbished "Blendtec" I got on sale.

It was all downhill from there and she bailed shortly thereafter, claiming she had "yoga.. or something, in the morning"

She said she'd "try to text [me] later" but I have yet to hear anything from her , FML

they were the original PRESTIGIOUS blender. 5 years ago other than blendtec (which doesn't blend *quite* as well) they had basically no competition, and vitamix has been around a lot longer than that. it's exponentially better than your generic department store blender in terms of actually blending shit.

the last couple of years there have been a lot of powerful blenders come on market for a bit less (~200, you can commonly get vitamixes at $320, less for refurbished) but I'd still take vitamix over any of them based on their track record. They're absurdly reliable and the biggest problem I had with previous blenders (admittedly ttts) was that they just fucking broke all the time.

smoothies are 180 billion I make them all the time

I've also used it to make squash soup when I'm too lazy to use a pot after blending it (the blades spin fast enough to heat it up). TTT blenders will leave strands and shit, with vitamix it's smooth as silk

It's a pain in the ass to get out but can also be used to make almond butter etc. if you're cheap

Usually a green protein fruit smoothie when I don't feel like cooking but still want something healthy instead of takeout garbage

But more standard desert-smoothies are also 180 and I make them from time to time.

Do you always use bananas? I do. Maybe it's time to drop the bananas.

For green smoothies I do, I let them sit out and brown then stick them in the fridge. Other than spinach they're the base

They're great for blending breakfast smoothies - can slip a morning after pill in to take care of all the honies you creampie.

i don't have a vitamix but i have a blendtec and it's worth every penny. it works the way you'd think a blender ought to work. if you put stuff in it, it WILL blend.
