At one point when I was a junior, it was horrible because everyone was billing like mad at my firm and you could lateral with incredible ease. Like 20% of the associates in the group left within the span of a couple months. One left and then more work for other and others left. At the end there was a near mutiny among the associates due to the amount of work so we hired a bunch of shitty laterals to fill the spots to stop the exodus.
Other times, a well regarded associate just gives notice and leaves. |
