That just makes it all the more compelling and relevant. Has anyone looked around at the world today?

Very well thought out. Many details about how technology effects people that I had not previously thought of . . .

I made another thread a while back calling it one of the greatest love story films of are time, Sci Fi gimmicks notwithstanding.

While it explores technology and it's effects, it gets very little into that except as a way to explore humanity, which it does rather well. Joaquin Phoenix falls in love, gf does too but eventually outgrows him.

The cool part is that in doing so she outgrows humanity itself, which is a nice handle for Phoenix to grab onto in order to get over the whole thing and find a compatible person. It's one of the few films of this genre with actual good messages, imho. He gets butthurt about being pwned but has no real reason to hate this OS woman so he sacks the fuck up and let's her go and moves on. Most films would have had the gf be revealed as a raging bitch and thus made it a simple decision for him to move on, but Her makes it a little more complicated, since OS didn't really do anything wrong and was pretty sweet most of the film. Can't fault her too much for leaving him in the lurch a bit, being basically a baby OS at the time.

So JP takes it all as a learning experience and doesn't hold a grudge, doesn't "win" against anything but himself. Pretty chill film.
