Oh god. I was with you until the last bit. How much does wife make? How much of your loans have you already paid off?

Wife is taking care of the kid now, was making $40k

Have not paid much off loans as I wanted liquid savings, can more aggressively pay them off now

So over three years, WHILE your wife was making 40K, you managed to save ~20K per year, on average? And now you have a child and she is going to be unemployed. That's TERRIBLE. You needed to save way more. Did you buy a house during that time?

It is what it is, not saying I'm proud of it. $150k is new, started at $115k and just changed firms... Bought 2 used cars after ls and had medical expenses. No house yet, probably in the next 6 months.

2 cars are essential where I live. I don't own a house yet, but would rather not throw away rent every month

if you've got good job security you should dump 30k in the loans - it would be paying yourself $2100.

Probably ~$300k. With $30k coming from parents and inlaws. Mortgage will be same or less than rent

You are me.. Except I didn't get a wife and kids and as a result I've paid my loans down to 50k.

Not trying to be a dick but was the kid planned? I can't imagine being in the situation I was in a couple of years ago and think "This is the right time to start a family."

Yes. By the time my financial situation is truly 'ready' to have a kid, then you start having to worry about wife's ability to have kid, etc

If OP was in Australia or Europe where he does not have to worry as much about shit like healthcare, education fees, retirement, taking vacations, job security, divorcing cunts taking your money, retard children he would possibly be okay.

But in AMERICA, lol he is PWN'd

I think this is OK. It's very hard to save much on $150k for some reason. What will help is if you get a bonus. Put those 100 percent to savings/loans. You need to max the 401k too. Don't splurge, no vacations for a few years, and try to find ways to increase your income. Good luck.

And to think LS kind of worked out for me. I need to figure out a way to cash in on all of the people with more debt and/or lower comp.
