feels like D, C.

C does invert the order of some of the statements but that was always ok in the parallel reasoning questions of the modern lsat, assuming it was ok back in the day. all the other choices seem to jumble the meaning.

first one was harder.

didn't give it much thought. looking back it's not bad i guess, but i feel like it turns the first statement about competition into the main conclusion when i saw it as much more of a subsidiary conclusion or starting point. it also shifts between "accept" and "believe" which might be relevant.

For me, the placement of "contrary to this" in sentence B also modifies the statement that the search for profits is the proper end for a businessman. The conclusion that the search for profits limits free competition doesn't contradict that statement.

2 was the harder question for me.

These questions are so much fucking closer to the reality of biglaw than figuring out who rides in the red canoe and eats pie and who rides in the blue canoe and eats cake.

Four things:

1. Don't go to law school.

2. Don't waste your time with 40 year old questions, just get the logic games bible and don't be a retard.

3. I'll sound sanctimonious saying this, but it is incredibly important to write clearly in biglaw, and it is also incredibly difficult. You will spend endless hours in biglaw agonizing over emails to partners and eventually to clients, let alone sentences in briefs or contracts or deals. It is miserable, and quite a lot like doing these types of questions again and again and again.

4. Don't go to law school.

Most people think they are good writers, few are. Generally speaking, not much you will come across in law is hard to understand, but it is often complex, and it can be difficult to give clear advice and explain it to someone who is less familiar with the concepts. It can also be hard to state explicitly what you mean and only what you mean. Plus, what we do is dry as fuck, so you have to be brief, but also cover your ass by stating every caveat or relevant detail.

How is legal writing remotely similar to a multiple choice test?

"it can be difficult to give clear advice and explain it to someone who is less familiar with the concepts."

For a shitty writer, yes.

Using trite phrases like "generally speaking" is a sign of a shit writer.

You aren't writing a fucking novel. Aesthetics are of far less importance than clarity of writing. His entire point is that it's incredibly difficult to reduce a clusterfuck of legalese to something even remotely intelligible to anyone outside law. These questions involve rephrasing, which is a large component of his job; logic questions on the LSAT are not representative of what he does at all. how hard is this to understand?

also, don't go to law school.

not when writing describes the actual thing you wrote instead of the act of writing, although either really works in context of the sentence

it's definitely D,C, though I was a retard and thought the first one was A at first.

But these are awesome in that they actually require you to synthesize ideas rather than analyze, which is all the LSAT seems to do now. Also, the incorrect answers sound exactly like a retard trying to sound smart.
