I'm smart enough to be above-average at my BIGFED job, but the amount of work and the expectations of my managers are such that I can get by on mostly my intelligence alone.
I'm also cheap and lack expensive tastes, so I'm better equipped to survive on a GS-14 salary than somebody who needs to ball out of control at the club regularly and eat organic food.
Most importantly, though, I have the "work to live" mentality. I have ambitions, but those ambitions don't have to be at work. I'm perfectly fine doing something I'm not passionate about during 9-5 five days a week in order to fund my real passions during the weekends or in the evenings. |

DC has newer, larger housing stock. It is overpriced compared to almost anywhere in the country, but significantly more affordable than DC or SF. |

NYC's big advantage is that the women are much hotter, so if you're more desirable you'll get better results. |
