if you are going to post on the bar, i have a little advice from someone who had the privilege of taking it two times: it's all about the MBE. i basically gave up on new york, more or less, improved my MBE by 24 (raw) points by doing PMBR, and that was all it took. as far as i'm concerned, the NY part is a total wash and you can learn enough just studying for the MBE to fake answers on NY. sure, read over some distinctions, whatever, go to the classes if you're registered in bar/bri… but if i had just done MBE practice questions i'm sure i would've passed the first time. as it was i did like… one practice test and that was it. so 200 questions total. that ain't enough. before the second one i did maybe… 1000. that helped.

this only applies in states where the mbe is worth like 50 percent of the exam like illinois |

ie family law they might test about adoption, child support, but it's going to be a repeat of a rule they tested in the past
there's also a dude who has actually gone through like the past 35 bar exams and created an outline which he sells for like $100. i used it and thought it was pretty good. something like 80% of the rules tested on the essays are repeat from previous years |

Just treat it like a full-time job up until about 2-3 weeks before the exam. At that point, start putting in 10 hours per day.
Until the last week, I was still going out several times per week after studying.
If you have exposed yourself to every subject by the beginning of July, you are in great shape. At that point, just do practice questions and profit.
Edit: the people going to the in-class lectures are exactly the type of people you DONT want to be around when studying for the bar. they WILL freak you out because they are the OCD gunner types. study at home in peace and at your own pace and profit. |

Did adaptibar second time and I'm sure I DOMINATED the MBE's. I was literally getting the exact same fact patterns as I had already seen on adaptibar but with different answer choices to test a different rule or something.
When I checked online later that night on here and jd underground where people were figuring out the tricky mbe questions I got almost all of the fucked up ones right.
Essays I felt like I completely bombed the last day so I'm fairly confident my MBE score gave me some substantial push points. |

During the time between answering a question incorrectly and when you learn you answered incorrectly (anywhere between a minute to 30 minutes) you cant help but commit the wrong concept to memory.
Study the shit out of the CMR and rely heavily on your ability to rule out potential answers via logic. You did get above a 165 on the lsat, right?
The guy who said to focus on the MBE is absolutely correct. Rcok the MBE, average 3s on the essays, and enjoy passing by a large margin. |

Given that the trend in Bar passage rates of persons with the same LSAT score (see The LSAT-free Illusion), the Bar passage rates of law schools also follow the same trend—lower Bar passage rates as the LSAT “profile” of entering classes fall. In their study of the July 2004 Texas Bar exam, Stephen P. Klein, Ph.D. and Roger Bolus, Ph.D. found that the differences in the average scores of Texas law schools followed the schools’ mean LSAT scores: [T]here are large differences in bar exam passing rates among schools. We found that almost all of these differences can be explained by differences in the admissions scores of the students they graduate. For example, there is a nearly perfect relationship between a law school’s mean total bar exam scale score and its mean LSAT score (the correlation is .98 out of a possible 1.00). Many of a law school’s graduates do better or worse on the bar exam than what would be expected on the basis of their own LSAT scores, but these differences almost entirely balance out when the data are analyzed by school. Also, read the questions carefully, but don't assume they are trying to trick you. 1/3 of the questions will be very easy and straightforward. With another 1/3 being slightly more challenging but still straightforward. If you approach all of these with the mindset that they are trying to trick you on every question, you will constantly second guess yourself and miss several easy questions.
Your approach to the MBE should be this: 1) read the question quickly but carefully. Read it with the intention of only reading it once. 2) eliminate possible answers that are logically impossible. For example, there will be several times where you will notice that if one of the possible answers is right, then another answer must also be right. Obviously, both of those options are wrong. You will come across several other situations. Trust your logical reasoning. 3) Decide what you are going to answer and move on. Don't second guess yourself and don't spend a bunch of time pondering the possibilities. If you need to skim the question again to clarify a quick point, then do it, but if you are completely clueless, circle it, go on, and come back to it at the end. |

so drill the MBE and you should put yourself in a good spot on the essays as well.

never did the full mbe practice exam bc ive already taken a bar and feel as though itd be a bit much and a waste of time to do the practice exam all over again.
i still study the mbe topics though because they pop up pretty often on the essay portion in my state. harder to spit out tests when the multi choice answers arent in front of you. amiright?
