USAJobs is flame.

Hiring managers already have the person they want in mind, and specifically word the requirements so that only that person is eligible.

oh, I think they're still not legit even with generic descriptions. I keep getting NOR letters stating the agency decided not to hire off the BQ list. WTF is the point of the BQ list if you can just disregard it.

management/policy, yep. I also work from home (like right now) a lot.

It's a pretty decent gig; I'm getting supervisory experience and besides days like today where I'll be working trying to get something out the door to hit a deadline, usually the day before a holiday i'm chilling.

my job is pretty interesting but can get dull at times. but I don't give a shit. It's a job--it pays for my life outside of work.

lol I don't even know where to begin in this thread:

Broken4T: what the hell are you doing? you can't move from a 301 to a 905 and you know that; how the hell did you get your job in the first place? PMF? Never heard of a quasi-legal flyover USAJOBS gig.

The GS-14 guy: how the hell did you get that job?

That said, LOL at the idea of a 30-something with probably a JD living with roommates bragging about how he lives it up. But I will concede saving the $$$ must be nice.

I know a 32 year old who worked their way up from 11 to 14 finally, but now they're saying it may never get any better and GS-15 is a pipe dream. I wouldn't mind it if I were 40 and could max out and get the pension, but with cuts I doubt the pension will be much in a few decades

i know very few people in their 30's who aren't married that don't have roomies AND live in nice parts of DC. i know a few but like i said above i like saving money and being able to spend money on a whim while out in dc or just leave town for travel and not have to worry about the money.

i love having roomies. one's a girl and the other s a dude. the girl has cute friends over all the time who are instantly fair game.

Not a 301. It's a pretty unique position. Some crossover with the agency's Counsel office. Did a short term assignment with Counsel.

How much can you exaggerate your current fed position to get a higher grade position in a different agency? Do they do much checking if you are a current Fed? I'm in a current series (not 0905) that varries a lot depending on location/division.
