So I cast a wide net sending an application to all the T14. (Along with all the random other schools I picked). I didn't think that I was going to get any cash or money; honestly I thought my stats sucked.

the low Tier 1 schools and Tier 2 schools are begging me to go with $$$. And I just got my letter from Cornell.

165, 3.2 AA Male. If it is Cornell @ sticker, should I go? (Say as opposed to UF/FSU**, or UG/Emory with $$$)

**in state

Well I have a techy background so I guess Patent Law is the natural choice. My undergrad stuff (Mathematical Biology) is enough to take the patent bar upon graduating. I haven't yet looked into which schools would be best for that though. Other than that, I'm not picky... something lucrative though.

Wow LSAT medians must have really fallen. The question was "Where do you want to work?"

"Where": a : at, in, or to what place <where is the house> <where are we going>

If you do patent law you have PLIP, which makes up for going to a school with a lesser OCI somewhat. Still want to go somewhere with enough IPish courses to make sense, tho.

I'd do Cornell. I went the other route (turned down T14 for local TT), was top of my class, law review, all that shit, did a 2/7/9/DC Cir. clerkship, and I still can't land a job outside of my home market.

There's worse things than 150k in flyover land with no debt, but being shut out of entire markets (and therefore certain practice groups that don't exist in flyover land) was a stark reminder of how important school name is.

Maybe this won't be a factor for you, but Ithaca is a lot different than FL/GA.

I would pick Emory with money and stay in the South.
