In some sense it can be better than going with a friend, because a lot of the time your friends aren't going to have the same musical tastes as you. So when you drag a friend along to an act they are not all that familiar with, you can end up worrying whether they are enjoying it.
I wish I had figured this out sooner, there are some shows I really wanted to see that I ended up skipping because I couldn't find anyone to go along with me and didn't want to be perceived as some weirdo with no friends. That's not how it works at shows, nobody gives a shit. |

I once went to see LCD Soundsystem alone. I figured I was okay to buy a walk up ticket cuz I checked online and it wasn't sold out.
But then when arrived there I ran into a scalper type dude that told me the show sold out. I don't know if that was true or not, but I managed to get a ticket from him for ten bucks under face because I told him that was all the cash I had on me. |
