A therapist once told me that I had to learn to "live in the anxiety" -- it's hard to explain but it means a kind of mindfulness approach where you allow yourself to feel the anxiety and its roots rather than shutting it out, and learn to be ok with the fact that you feel it. Sometimes this helps it to subside.

I suffer from anxiety/panic disorder, and have found that feeling guilty about it, battling too hard against it, etc. is actually counter-productive.

I agree with the other poster that its best to simply accept it and try to remember that anxiety is just a mental state.

Oh. Get some Zoloft and a short-term Benzo script. Also consider meditation.

Tell him you're having daily panic attacks on which you feel like you're having a heart attack and the room is spinning

Try progressive muscle relaxation techniques. You can buy audio on the iTunes store and listen to it for guidance while sitting on train/bus/at home. It requires being stationary for a few minutes but I find it helpful.

sometimes you just need a break from it. just take some meds for a month or two and then stop. that's what i did. although the tension is still there i can cope with it again.

exercise, sleep, eat healthy, meditate and find Jesus. but seriously, the first four go a long way toward eliminating anxiety. traditional talk therapy was also helpful for me. CBT and SSRIs got me nowhere.
