Base is around what a 1st year makes in BIGLAW, but all the upside is in the equity stake. If the company is a hit and goes public, I'll be retired at 45. Then again if the company doesn't make it equity is worthless and I have wasted years of prime earning potential.

It is fun so far. The best part is coming to work every day with a bunch of smart people who enjoy what they are doing, as opposed to the miserable fucks that are the majority in law firms.

I did prosecution and transactional. Actually just found the listing online, but once I learned more about the company it turned out I had some connections that could serve as references.

was it vital that u had experience in both areas, or would one or the other have been enough on its own?

It was definitely clear during the interview process enormously helpful to have both.

would you ever hire an underling with biglaw patent lit + transactional experience but no patent bar eligibility?

Only if the company got into some situation where we needed someone in-house to manage litigations. For transactional/licensing work I would want someone who understood the technology and had some industry experience.

Yeah, but in his hypo he said he had both types of experience. Question was re patent bar eligibility: translation, no tech background.
