Been in-house for over six months now and still have variations of a nightmare where I somehow come back to my firm. It's almost like the recurring dream I have about being back in high school and it's finals time and I haven't attended classes or done shit the entire year.

The common variation for me is like I have to go back and work at my old firm for some reason. Maybe not a traditional nightmare, but when I have those dreams I wake up pissed off and in a shitty mood.

Kid you not but like a week ago I had this weird dream of my old boss in a yellow zoot suit and a weird yellow hat yelling at me about a blown opposition deadline. I haven't done lit in 3 years.

Sort of. I have dreams where I'm in the middle of an all nighter and getting rushed, which used to happen all the time. But I don't wake up panicked or in a cold sweat, more like "lol, at least that won't happen."

By the way, in biglaw I used to do 2-3 all nighters a month. Haven't done a single one in a few years of in-house.

Yes, I get them all the time. They have replaced the dream I used to have where I was back in high school and had an exam for a class I never went to.

EDIT: I totally wrote this post having only read the thread title and not the OP. That is unsettling.

I think we all have these and I have no doubt I will have them in law firm form when I leave.

The other recurring one I have is that I have some sort of sports game I'm supposed to be playing in, but things keep preventing me from getting there. Like it will be a football game and I can't find my helmet, then my ride is gone, then I get a ride, but the streets are closed, then I get there and I'm missing something else, then the coach is super disappointed with me being late and is passive aggressively benching me by running only personnel sets I'm not in.

Is my life just fucked?

In BigLaw on a Friday, find out there is a huge project to be done by end of business on Monday - cancel plans with family/friends, stay late on Friday and spend all weekend in office.

InHouse on a Friday, find out there is a huge project to be done by end of business on Monday - call outside counsel, tell them that you need the project done by Sunday night so that you can review on Monday morning, don't review it at all, call to bitch about the bill on Tuesday.

No, not any more. Often times, I'm discussing some arrangement with the counterparty's biglaw attorneys, and bring up issues with their edits. Some are substantive and other are not (like, inconsistent font, etc). I only imagine the shit the junior atty will get because of it, so now I try to avoid the non-substantive stuff (unless it's a glaring error).

Yea, it still shows up as a track change -- a lil comment bubble with font change. So now I avoid it all together. We do everything through word track changes.

uncheck "Track Formatting" in the Track Changes option in Word. I always do this because I can't stand seeing hundreds of bubbles showing font changes

tyft. Usually, if I make any changes, I just turn off track changes, make the edits, and say "I made some minor stylistic/formatting changes" in my response.

In biglaw my good app notification gave me ptsd. It'd go off and I'd have a physical reaction, sweaty palms, stomach start to hurt.

Had the good app in house and it was still doing it from biglaw in spite of being no stress. So I just turned off notifications - nothing needs a response in a minute, or five, or thirty.
